It's time again. With the presentation of the final works, the names of graduates who are nominated for the Cologne Design Award 2011 are announced. Nine works will be proposed this year for the Cologne Design Award. At 27th of October 2011 the winners will be announced in the Museum of Applied Arts in Cologne (MAKK). We are happy to present the 2011 Edition of the KISD Yearbook: »Design & Provocation«. Articles, interviews and reportages highlight the different aspect of the relationship between design and provocation. The Köln International School of Design (KISD), part of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences, will, from 8th to 13th July, 2011, present this year's graduate works under the theme of »KISDCity – Design beyond Surface«. More Information  here

For the past sixteen years students of Köln International School of Design (KISD) have annualy elected an influential designer to receive the »Cologne Thumper«. This year the student body chose Erik Kessels to receive the honor. On June 30 the dutch designer will personally accept the award and join the students for the following festivities.here

On 26th of October 2010 Cultural Library releases their publication »Learning from Nairobi – Mobility«. Cultural Library is a series of projects of KISD, a collaboration of international research partners investigating everyday habits and rituals and the use of products and spaces associated with them. The book was originated in the project  Mobility in Nairobi that took place in 2009 and is a collaboration between 20 students from Cologne and Nairobi, three international research partners and experts from various disciplines (design, architecture, city planning).
