April 15 Presentation of the topic
The route, the path, the way, the stations, signs and architecture. Urban structures.

April 22 Discussion / Further development
Discussion of the subject matter from Sabine Voggenreiter´s and Kay von Keitz´perspective. First reports of the students who walked along the route.

Results / next steps:
Research: Signs and architecture // elements in the city, that might act as signs - and ways to use and manipulate them // via sacra: the route, the stations, in-between // in general: tours in cologne and their signage.
Fragen: momentaryness(Vergänglichkeit) of signs as a design principle? // integration of other people along the route - communication // combination with other media (map, web, tv, Phone...) // integration in the overall picture: distracting / disturbing (Stolperstein) or subtle integrated?

Questions and further discussion with Sabine Voggenreiter, Kay von Keitz and Christian Schaller (BDA)

May 6 On site
We will meet at 3pm at the Kunibertskloster, with cameras! Walk along the route with Boris Sieverts.

May 8 Discussion of impressions & drafts
We meet at 4.30 pm at the KISD. Please bring photos, ideas, first drafts & concepts. Discussion of the impressions of tuesday. At the meeting several solutions were presented.

Important aspects during the discussion:
_ Passing the route (by chance) will show you that this is the Via Sacra route. At every "stop" you will be informed where and how to look and how you should proceed. Very strong signaletics.
_ Information about the route without any information of the contents / topics - just concerning (and coding) direction and distance.
_ Additional layer for special events (plan week, guided tours etc): adding something to the information system that might vanish after hours or days (to demonstrate the special event - and to help the bigger amout of people being guided).
_ accoustic component of the information system / audio graffiti
_ breadcrumbs / "Ariadnefaden"
_ Framing information / layering old & new
_ Two levels of the information system: close-up and distance
_ Integrating local media (posters, citylights) for special events
_ Flexible system of visual interventions (depending on the situation) without a clear common sign (common denominator) will help people to look more sensible to subtle signs in the urban landscape
