Winter Term 2005/06
Dynamic Information Design (Mid-Term Project, October, 11 - December, 1)
Traditional (visual) design expresses information in determined and fixed forms. Even if those visualisations or "products" are films or animations - they are static: once they are produced, the cannot be changed.
This project will be about the design of systems, not of products. It will be about continuos and responsive digital communication.
In the project, we will work on a theoretical background, develop a foundation for Dynamic Design and Information Design and realize a project (prototype) dealing with new ways of designing news...

Interaction Design (Seminar by Prof. Dr. Plassmann, Friday 8AM-11AM)

Made in Taiwan (Short-Term Project by Prof. Cheng-Neng Kuan, December 12 -16)
Another project about specific approaches to design in asia: in this project, Prof. Cheng-Neng Kuan, a well known designer and advisor in the asian area of design business and education and Prof. Wan-Ru Chou, both from our partner university Shih-Chien University in Taipei will work on a topic related to industrial and interface design.
The project will be in english language.

Tuesday Talks (Tuesday, 5:30 PM)
Presentation and discussion of intermediate and final examination projects.

Exhibition Workgroup (Ausstellungs-AG, Tuesday 4PM-5:30 PM)
Expansion of the KISD Gallery: Development of concepts and strategies for the continuous presence and use of the gallery. Exhibitions will be realized as projects in cooperation with the KISD Gallery AG. This year, there will be an Exhibition about Heinz Bähr.
The Gallery Group Wiki can be found here.

w3 Group / Andreas Beutel (AG, Wednesday 1PM - 3PM)
The w3 Group develops concepts and solutions for the various digital communication media at the KISD. Besides the website of the KISD, the maintenance and further development of our intranet is a essential task. Interfaces to projects and other AGs are evident and have to be furher developped and deployed.Group pages can be found here

Summer Term 2005
Dimensions of Interface Design (Seminar, Wednesday 3PM-5PM)
What are the core aspects of Interfaces? What´s the role of Design in this context? In this seminar, the crucial dimensions for the development of Interfaces will be presented and discussed. As we need a common terminology and understanding of the topic, we weill work on an introduction in the most important terms and aspects in the beginning of the seminar. If you want to apply your insights immediately, you are recommended to participate in the project "Quick Drafts".

Interface Concepts: Quick Drafts (Mid-Term Project, April, 12 - May, 24)
This project is about developping ideas and concepts on three different issues on Interface Design quick and effective. After an introduction week you will get a briefing on a new subject every two weeks – and during one week you will develop a concept and present it in a convincing and appropriate way. You will learn to develop approaches and concepts and to express those concepts.
The issues are from various areas. You will develop concepts for various media (Web, POI, Mobile Media). For the concepts you will focus on aspects like Information Architecture, Information Design, Usability or Corporate Design. If you have little experience in Interface Design it is recommended to participate in the seminar "Dimensions of Interface Design"

Mat+ (Project led by Prof. Hatto Grosse, with Andreas Wrede)
Material, Matter, Materialism...
The aim of the project is to release a publication covering this semester's topic.

James Auger: The Ambivalence of Technology (Project, June, 6 - June, 10)
James Auger has been working as a Research Associate at Medialab Europe in Dublin. At KISD, he is wellknown since he received the Cologne Thumper in 2003. In the current summer term, James Auger will visit KISD to lead a short-term project; the topic will be announced at the beginning of the semester.
The project will be in english language.

Tuesday Lectures (Tuesday, 5:30 PM)
This Lecture series by all KISD Professors you will give an insight in current topics, aspects and perspectives of the particular areas of expertise.
Some of the lectures will be held in english, please refer to the announcements.
My Lecture in Interface Design will be held on May, 31.

Gallery Group (AG, Tuesday 4PM-5:30 PM)
