Designing Interfaces for Interaction with Information
(Seminar, Wednesday 11 AM-1 PM, Room 119, starting April 23rd)
Interfaces are omnipresent. They are aiming at enabling an optimal usage and handling of products and informations.
In this seminar we will focus on interfaces that are dealing with the mediation of informations. Therefore we have a closer look at the interactions of the user, the navigation through the information, the information architecture and the information design.
Based on a selection of examples we will develop basic criteria to design interfaces and interactions for information-oriented interfaces (e.g. information offers in the WWW, information kiosks, mobile devices like phones and PDAs).
Requirements: In this seminar we will work with new ways of collaborative developments (like weblogs, common work on sources, weekly feedbacks, the collaborative development of the argumentation and presentation structure).

Informieren, Unterhalten, Spielen, Lernen

Es soll eine interaktive Anwendung über das Köln zu Zeiten der Römer konzipiert werden.
Das Ziel: In unterhaltsamer Weise Informationen über das Köln zur Römerzeit zugreifbar und/oder erfahrbar machen.
Die Technologie: Es liegt ein navigierbares 3D Modelle der Stadt mit den wichtigsten Gebäuden vor. In diese 3D-Anwendung können Flashfilme integriert werden.
Die Wissensinhalte: liefert das Forschungsprojekt "römisches Köln".

Cultural Library @ Rhein Design

In this project, that will be held in cooperation with the Shih-Chien University in Taipei, we will collaborate with students from Taipei. Based on two workshops in Taipei (by Prof. Imaizumi / Prof. Nagasawa from Tokyo and by Prof. Heidkamp) we will prepare an exhibition about Mobility. This should have been part of this year´s RHEINDESIGN festival - but RHEINDESIGN will take place 2009. So we will design an intermdiate preview event. And you will have the chance to work in an international project and exhibit the work at the end of the project.
Maybe you will even have the chance afterwards to continue your work in Taipei and to proceed the exhibition in an exhibition space there…

Neuausrichtung der Bundesinitiative „Schulen ans Netz”

Die Bundesinitiative „Schulen ans Netz” richtet sich neu aus.
„Der sinnvolle Umgang mit digitalen Medien ist nicht auf die Schulzeit beschränkt, das von Schulen ans Netz im Schulbereich erworbene und mit zahlreichen Fachleuten zusammengetragene Know-how kann – natürlich mit Modifizierungen – in andere Bereiche transferiert und von vielen Akteuren der Bildungsarbeit genutzt werden. Neue Aufgaben mit dem Focus "Lebenslanges Lernen" erweitern das Spektrum von Schulen ans Netz. …”
In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung und Schulen ans Netz e.V. soll eine neue Corporate Identity, respektive ein entsprechendes Corporate Design, entwickelt werden. Dies umfasst sowohl die beratende Begleitung der inhaltlichen Neuausrichtung, die Namensgebung sowie selbstverständlich alle weiteren Aspekte eines komplexen CD-Programms.

Experience Design Project: Pharmacy of the Future

Jan-Christoph Zoels is user experience designer at Experientia, Turin/Italy. Until recently he was senior associate professor at Interaction Design Institute Ivrea, where he ran the business innovation workshops called Applied Dreams.
In his work Jan-Christoph focuses specifically on people’s experience of mobile services and applications, and on using information technology to support simplicity. He advocates a strategic integration of user experience modeling, design, prototyping and iterative testing to improve the desirability of products and services.
In this project at KISD, he will give insight in the process of designing user experience and introduce and discuss various methods. Experience prototyping will allow you to explore fast and emphatic ways to prototype experiences
Empathy, advice and care giving are key experiences desired in a pharmacy. This workshop will explore user experiences, interactions and touchpoints within this environment. Methods such as Experience Prototyping will allow students to rapidly visualize and manifest concepts.

Die Ausstellungs-AG entwickelt die Konzeptionen für die KISD-Galerie und unterstützt alle Ausstellungen in der Galerie und an anderen Orten der KISD.
Sie ist damit für die gesamte Ausstellungs-Thematik verantwortlich, in gestalterischer, konzeptioneller, praktischer und administrativer Hinsicht.
Ein weiteres Ziel der Ausstellungs-AG ist es, die Räumlichkeiten der KISD so zu gestalten, daß die Prozesse, Projekte und Seminare der KISD sichtbar, greifbar und präsent werden.
