The \u00bbReal-Time City<\/a><\/span>\u00ab research center examines exemplary city configurations in order to reveal and design the dense entanglements of sensory experiences, communicative processes and media environments.<\/h2>\n

The way we perceive and understand the city is shaped in a special way by the media-technological shifts of the 20th and 21st century. The \u00bbReal-Time City\u00ab research center explores how new methods of data processing and visualization influence the perception, control and development of the city. How do sensory networks determine the construction of spaces? What physical-digital environments and structures can be developed to uncover previously unrecognized potentials of the urban and to rethink the city as a model of life and civilization? What do approaches such as \u00bbparticipatory sensing\u00ab mean for the development of alternative ideas about participation and diversity? The participating scholars approach these questions from a transdisciplinary perspective in order to make them fruitful for critical urban and design research.<\/p>\n
