After a two-year break, 46 Cologne art venues will open their doors again on Saturday, 05 November 2022 from 19:00 to 02:00.
The categories “nature” and “culture” are a central part of our modern self-image. Human beings are dual beings, in order to cope with the complexity of our everyday lives we think in terms of opposites: Human vs. Nature, Us vs. The Others, Right vs. Wrong, Male vs. Female, Progressive vs. Conservative, Homosexual vs. Heterosexual. Wouldn’t it be more effective to overcome these opposites; to include variation instead of excluding it?
In the main exhibition area, the (un)NATUR Cologne International School of Design exhibition features projects by design students inspired by non-human perspectives and processes. Some projects experiment with nature-based materials, while other works address socio-cultural issues or take a nuanced look at the relationship between culture and nature. In this way, the works open up spaces for new perspectives that are not locked in oppositions.
In the second exhibition area is the “States of Motion” exhibition of the “Motion Experience Lab”. The Motion Experience Lab focuses on the artistic exploration of augmented motion, experimental motion design and expanded animation in the context of performative interaction, performing arts, the body and interdisciplinary media studies.
The downstairs exhibition spaces are barrier-free.
