Bessie Normand (@oda.pinard) – also a former MXL student assistant – presents her master thesis, “InShape – Performing Software in Space“, tomorrow 8th February at Code & Context’s Iteration in Mülheim. Her talk is embedded in a rich 2-day programme of CoCo’s final event with exhibition and invited speaker guests like Chaya Shen, Martina Höfflin, Tilman Reiff of Büro für Brauchbarkeit and Paul Robben from the Open Knowledge Foundation Deutschland and Tim Robin Kosack from DLR – Institut für KI-Sicherheit.
Her work takes a playful yet critical approach to the process of editorial design, challenging the idea of sitting at a computer with minimal physical engagement. Instead, she demonstrates how a poster can be designed in space through full-body interactions with objects, each triggering specific design functions.
The thesis, supervised by Prof. Nina Juric and Prof. Dr. Lasse Scherffig, was also nominated for the @koelnerdesignpreis. She graduated last summer. Find more about the thesis here: https://inshape.cargo.site/
