The three-part un/learn AI publication series “Approaching,” “Navigating,” and “Integrating AI in Aesthetic Practices” which was created as part of the KITeGG research project, is now available as an open-access publication.

Over a period of four years, five design and art schools established experimental laboratories, developed new teaching formats, organised symposia and created a shared digital infrastructure.

These publications offer an insight into the various project formats, their outcomes and the research topics and approaches that demonstrate how artificial intelligence can be explored creatively and critically integrated into teaching. Each book highlights a phase of the research project and is structured around different key topics.

The publications are structured as a web-to-print pipeline and are available online and as a limited print edition. They can be downloaded as PDF files from the website and read online as individual articles. The web view offers sorting options for the articles, as well as additional content, such as translations and videos.

Several natural language processing algorithms were utilised during the design process to contribute to the books’ navigation system, as well as their visual and structural design. The texts from all the books are divided into sections which are then semantically compared and linked.

For the second volume in the series, Prof. Dr. Lasse Scherffig and KISD staff members Jakob Kilian and Matthias Grund edited a selection of thematic chapters. The third volume was published by the KISD project team (Prof. Dr. Lasse Scherffig, Matthias Grund, Jakob Kilian and Jana Hartmann) in collaboration with HfG Offenbach (Johanna T. Wallenborn, Leon-Etienne Kühr and Mattis Kuhn).

Numerous contributions from other teachers and students at KISD are represented:
