MXL ON AIR: UR1/VVЯ – AV Performance within HUMAN INPUT

January 23, 2025 · Berghain Kantine, Berlin

This week, *MXL ON AIR* takes place in a special edition dedicated to the rehearsal process of *UR1/VVЯ*, a 15-minute live light and sound performance produced, performed, and directed by *Nele Oberbiermann* and *Lio Vast* together with their team.

The rehearsals are part of a self-initiated project supervised by *Prof. Nina Juric* in the teaching and research area of /Image & Motion at KISD/. Conceived as open working sessions, they are explicitly dedicated to testing, feedback, and the continuous improvement of the final audio-visual work. Within this iterative process, the light and sound performance is prepared for its final presentation on *January 23* at *Berghain Kantine, Berlin*, taking place in collaboration with the renowned artist *Moritz Simon Geist* as part of his event format *HUMAN INPUT*.

MXL ON AIR – Open Rehearsals and Live Processes

MXL ON AIR is an open, studio-oriented event format of the Motion Experience Lab <https://imageandmotion.xyz/>  (MXL@KISD in R404), inviting students, guests, and external visitors to experience ongoing production processes within the context of practice-based design education.

The focus lies on making visible live setups of media-artistic productions, sharing insights of performative working methods, and showing experimental audio-visual environments in the making, as well as the ways bodies perform within them. By deliberately opening the rehearsal space, MXL ON AIR establishes feedback situations and iterative refinement as integral components of performative design and relational design processes. Also the public visitors serve an audience, which is a crucial role in the relation system. In this way, the format reflects the working methodology of the Motion Experience Lab as a learning and production environment in which testing, failing, adapting, reworking, and refining are central elements of innovative Image & Motion design practice, often involving interactive elements. We are also attending live meet-ups like the last MXL ON AIR 31. vvvv worldwide meet up 2025 <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96h-UvwgSvA> (initiated by the Node Institute, Berlin).
