New Tools are revolutionizing the way we work in 3D. And no tool can be neutral. With this new ways of working, new ways of seeing and new styles will emerge. With VR (Virtual Reality), a new way of experimental approach comes into 3D.
Based in the German city of Hamburg, Tobias Wüstefeld is an illustrator who loves creating miniature worlds. Each has its own look, emotion and general atmosphere, and is full of detail for the viewer to inspect and engage with. Sometimes, these worlds are brought to life in his animation work. This fascination with creating tiny sets began when Tobias was young. He saved up and bought a damaged SLR camera, loaded it with film, and then created a scene using a toy dinosaur and some plants from the garden. He showed the pictures to his friends. “I told the kids at school I was time travelling,” he says. Today he’s moved on from plastic toys and old cameras, and tends to render his creations in the latest 3D software. For influences he looks well beyond the realms of art and illustration, and they include an interest in neuropsychology, as well as particle accelerators.
