Jeannette Weber
Designer, Cologne, Amsterdam

Sometimes, one conversation can change your mind; one person can change the way you look at things – by being invited into a stranger’s thoughts or an unfamiliar perspective on the world. Sometimes, one image can influence your thinking; another person’s storyline can become your everyday reality – by being exposed to somebody else’s narration of the world. Who tells the story? And who are we listening to? This KISDtalk is about the role of designers to challenge perspectives, unsee what seems given and be surprised by the unknown. To make different realities possible. Jeannette Weber will elaborate on her own socially engaged practice that uses design as a form of inquiry to understand the world.
Besides running her own studio practice in Amsterdam, Jeannette Weber recently joined the Cologne-based service design team of service works and is board member of the journalistic NGO “Froh!“. Previously, she worked as a research associate and lecturer at Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, various design studios, and SDN. She graduated from KISD and Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences.
