Online KISDtalk: “Color, Space, and Society”

Colors influence the perception of space more than we are aware of. They have a direct effect on our emotions and control our actions and interactions. Which social, psychological, and physiological processes take place in color perception and how can we designers use them? Based on scientific findings and using examples from social reality and architectural practice, the online lecture provides an insight into the multi-layered effect and effect of colors. The examples to be shown range from the design of hotels to shops and exhibitions.

Christine Schwaiger is a professor at the New Design University in Sankt Pölten and head of the master’s course in Interior Design & Visual Communications. After studying product design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and Interior Design at the Royal College of Arts in London she completed her architectural studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Since 2009, she has been practicing in her own studio based in Vienna. Her clients include the PSA Group (Peugeot/Citroën), Laufen Bathrooms AG, Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien and the MAK – Museum of Applied Arts Vienna.
