Dutch theater troupe PIPS:lab is internationally renowned for its innovative, unique multimedia performances. Crafting their own bespoke software, the members have become leaders in interactive performance, manipulating light, sound and image in previously unimagined ways. The performers constantly combine art forms to create new works in which technology plays a theatrical part. The audience is involved using interactive techniques, fiction and reality are mashed up, the footage is always recorded live, high tech is made low brow, all elements of a show or installation are visible on stage. In this performative lecture Keez Duyves presents his inventions and discusses the possibilities and constraints of using technology on stage via selected examples.
