»try e.m.i.s. now« is a VR theatre experience and immersive live performance in which forms of digital technology in theatrical processes are experimentally explored.
»Central themes of transhumanism are incorporated into the design of physical and digital spaces. Through the ›upload of consciousness‹ based on personal data, a mind upload of the visitors in the company e.m.i.s. (eternal mind in space) is processed and critically reflected,« is how the directors Carolin Schabbing and Lisa Peter describe their concept. With this in view, the question arises as to whether aspects of consciousness and identity can be transferred to phygital spaces? What forms of interaction and design are possible in them? Does interaction in phygital spaces change the consciousness and identity of the visitors?
The project »try e.m.i.s. now« is a collaboration between the Köln International School of Design (KISD) of TH Köln, the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) and Studio Trafique. It was developed in the context of the teaching areas »Design Theory and Research« (KISD) and »Dramaturgy and Filmic Narration« (KHM). It was supervised by Prof. Dr. Carolin Höfler and Prof. Dr. Lasse Scherffig (KISD) and Prof. Melissa de Raaf (KHM).
