On Thursday, October 24, 7 pm, the 2019 award ceremony for the Kölner Design Preis (Cologne Design Prize) will take place in Museum of Applied Arts Cologne (Museum für Angewandte Kunst Köln, MAKK).
The annual award honors the best and most innovative final theses of graduates of Cologne-based design and art schools and successfully contributes to further strengthening the city’s reputation as a domestically and internationally renowned hot spot in the arts. It also actively promotes the support of young talents in art and design and fosters their unique and innovative project ideas.
KISD – Köln International School of Design will be represented by around 15 nominated theses/projects. The Cologne Design Prize is a joint project by KISD, ecosign Academy, Macromedia University of Applied Sciences, and Rheinische Fachhochschule Cologne. This year, 26 project works/final theses were approved for final selection. All 26 nominated works will be exhibited at MAKK from October 24 to November 17.
In 2019, the jury consists of Dr. Petra Hesse (director of MAKK Museum Cologne), Nils Holger Moormann (Managing Director, Nils Holger Moormann Ltd.), Claudia Neumann (Managing Director, Neumann-Communication), Stephan Ott (Editor-in-Chief of “form”-magazine), and Prof. Ralph Sommer (Professor for Concept Design, University of Fine Arts of Hamburg).
This year’s award ceremony will mark the 12th edition of the Kölner Design Preis – 2019 for the second time under the auspices and with the support of Neumann-Hug SA willing to keep alive the estate of German author Toby E. Rodes.
