Dipl. Des. Michael Wolf
Formula D, Cape Town, South Africa

Different clients approach designers with very different sets of design informants. Some have very specific ideas of what their solution will be, but may not have engaged the user yet. Others have identified a problem but are not sure of how much they can spend on a solution. Another presents high level ideas giving designers free range to propose the next steps. Establishing a suitable process and speaking to client about project management early on is crucial to successfully navigate design projects and prevent issues like scope creep, misinterpretation of the brief, or unforeseen dependencies. In his talk, Michael will present some of his key learnings from running a design company over the last 10 years.

Michael Wolf, interaction designer and KISD Alumni, lives and works in Cape Town, where he runs Formula D
