On this page we have answered some of the most frequent questions regarding studies at KISD.

KISD offers you a high degree of freedom in your selection of courses. The study plan will help you when choosing projects, seminars, courses, and all other events. Compulsory during all semesters is attending the KISDlectures, KISDtalks, Friday presentations, and mentoring. In your first semester as a Bachelor student, you will further attend the Cologne Resources project as well as the KISDessentials. As a Master student, you will attend the Design Explorations and the Methods Lab I in your first semester and the Methods Lab II as well as a portfolio course within the next two semesters.

Please refer to the study plan or the module catalogue of your study program for information on the amount of Credit Points according to ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) which are to be obtained in specific modules and courses.

Depending on its duration, different numbers of Credit Points (CP) may be obtained during a project:

  • Long-term projects: 12 CP
  • Mid-term projects: 6 CP
  • Short-term projects: 3 CP
  • Event projects: 6–12 CP

Yes, of course. The distribution is as follows:

  • Scientific seminars: 4 CP
  • Courses: 1–3 CP
  • Working groups: 2 CP
