On Wednesday, May 4, 2022, a KISDedition release party will take place at the KISD – Köln International School of Design of TH Köln. KISDedition publishes texts in a variety of design areas, that give an impression of the many facets of the interdisciplinary study program »Integrated Design« and present the different forms of teaching and research at KISD. The program includes theses, studies, anthologies, project and research reports written and designed by graduates and lecturers.
The release party will feature two new publications: »Algorithmic Turn. Unsichtbare Bilder algorithmischer Überwachung« (Invisible Images of Algorithmic Surveillance) by Sten Rüdrich and »Begreifen. Eine technikphilosophische Perspektive auf die Gestaltung von Schnittstellen« (Grasping: A Philosophy of Technology Perspective on the Design of Interfaces) by Pia-Marie Stute. Sten Rüdrich deals with the active interventions of intelligent image recognition system in everyday life and asks about the socio-political implications of machine-based vision. Starting from physical objects equipped with sensors and software, Pia-Marie Stute is focusing on the demand for a ›graspability‹ of technologies, which has significant consequences for the relationship between humans and machines.
Readings from the books will take place at the release party. In addition, the new open access journal »ZZZine« will be presented. KISD’s design research forms the basis of the »Journal for Integrated Design Research«, which will be published from the fall of 2022 both as a web-based online publication and as a downloadable PDF document.
The event will be followed by an informal evening with drinks and snacks.
