Physical Presence in Virtual Worlds: Crafting the Authoring Tools of Tomorrow

The unique sense of physical presence is an intricate, challenging pursuit for anyone building virtual worlds. In this presentation, I will discuss and explicate our company’s visionary approach to this, centred around our cutting-edge authoring tools aimed at empowering creators and developers to build virtual experiences with physical presence at their core.

Beyond the psychological intricacies of presence, a myriad of seemingly insurmountable technological challenges often stops any notion of creators embarking on a prototyping journey in their tracks. To shape a future of multidisciplinary collaboration, we embarked on a journey to identify key obstacles, establish a common language to discuss them, and engineer a solution.

As someone with a background in directing theatre and live performance, my mission is to provide an accessible tool kit that enables diverse teams to collaboratively craft these seemingly impossible worlds. By blending these approaches, we can create a world where creative ideas are able to be explored first, as opposed to solving foundational technological challenges.

The talk can be joined in room 11 and on zoom.
