Beauty, elegance, grace. Extraordinary, sublime, sophisticated. The term of “design“ is often synonymous with the completion of form, delicacy, and brilliancy. However, KISD – Köln International School of Design, an institute of TH Köln, on October 29, 7 pm until 3 am, opened its doors to show visitors the “Dark Side of Design“. In the context of the 17th edition of Museums’ Night Cologne, KISD presented in this exhibition the unfitting, those things and elements of design which are strange, uncommon, and worth disputing. By means of selected project works/ final theses of KISD students and graduates, visitors got an overview of the numerous facets of design and KISD’s “Integrated Design“ approach. Stories and projects that coped with the unfamiliar, the unsteady, and the well-ordered and unsorted.
