The holder of the technical field of education “digital media and tele-cooperation” sees himself as contact person for the design, the production and the spread of digital media in networks. A main focus lies upon the mastery of the underlying digital technique, which due to the accelerated development cycles, gains importance within the design process besides creative and textual aspects. As well, methods of computer science (structuring, modularisation, programming) will be used and trained within the education in this field. Digital media emerges from the digital integration of different forms of perception (text, image, audio, video, motion, animation, three dimensionality and interaction) and their storage on a single or shared medium of information (CD-ROM, DVD, intranet, Internet). Since nowadays this shared data media/ volume is almost all the time the Internet, the functionality and principles of networks and networking have to be considered as well if creating digital-media-products.

The following questions will be addressed within this educational field:

  • How does a network and the implemented communication and distribution of information operate?
  • How to use production and publication tools (application software, server software, programming) for net content.
  • How to work within a network (communication, cooperation, research and information exchange).

Within regular project work, intermediate exams or as final degree tasks projects are created in the fields of e-business, mobile computing, virtual communities, net-based learning, e-entertainment, telecooperation in networks, research and information management. By doing so techniques/concepts such as HTML, Flash, Shockwave, XML, TCP/IP, Client- Server, databases or programming come into operation.
