As an online format and in cooperation with KISD – Köln International School of Design of TH Köln, the 23rd edition of the colloquium »Design promoviert (Doctoral Studies in Design)«, organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Designtheorie und -forschung (German Association of Design Theory and Design Research), was held on July 4, 2020.
After an introductory speech given by Prof. Michael Hohl (Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Dessau) on the topic of »Practice-Oriented PhD-Research in Design«, six PhD students presented their theses and discussed them among an interested audience. The colloquium served the coming PhD graduates as a good opportunity to spark debate on their individual research topics in peer interaction and discussion with many experienced design researchers as invited guests to comment on the graduates‘ scientific approaches and methodologies. The subsequent keynote speech by Dr. Björn Blankenheim (Bergische University, Wuppertal) on his successful dissertation on the topic of »Production Aesthetics of Computer Games in the Context of Historic Art Literature« complemented the meeting.
The online colloquium at KISD – Köln International School of Design was provided support by Prof. Dr. Carolin Höfler and Simon Meienberg from KISD with KISD students being moderators and presenters for the meeting’s topics.
