Designing three-dimensional textiles based on the structure and pattern of human skin

PEEL is a textile collection, created for and with the human body. The textile structures are created from and on the skin. The modules of the textiles develop themselves and they gradually transform themselves on the body. They get into interaction with the body, whereby movements become visible for the observer.

The collection uses traditional as well as innovative techniques to create textiles and explores the potential of the creation of organic 3D-structures. The textiles stem from an experimental and material-oriented design process. Therefore, they present propositions regarding the composition of the materialization of skin structures.

These pieces of textile may be placed onto the body. They do not only recreate a body’s form from a magnifying perspective, but also evolve differently depending on the technique applied.
